We also invested largely in technology to increase the level of care with advanced instrumentation such as iprofiler plus(3-in-1 wavefront abberometer-topographer, refractometer) from Carl Zeiss, Slitlamp, Applanation tonometer, Volk 90D and 20D lenses, indirect opthalmoscope, non mydiatric fundus camera, visuscout and advanced digital centration system – Visio office 2 from Essilor.

Irregular cornea-Kunal has successfully treated a variety of eye conditions through speciality contact lenses like Rose K lenses,Hybrid lenses,Scleral Contact Lens, many of which did not respond to other forms of treatment like Keratoconus , kerotaglobus, Pellucid marginal degeneration and severe dry eye conditions.
Ocular Prosthesis – Kunal is also a well experienced Ocularist with a deep understanding of concerns of one eyed patients who are seeking to get rid of this handicap. He makes a eye like shell to fit over a disfigured eye of the patients after removal of natural eye(enucleation). Kunal has developed excellent skills to fine tune every small detail in the prosthetic eye to make it lifelike and comfortable. Being the pioneer in this field, he is also the founding member of Ocularist Society of India.
Low Vision Aids-Kunal is practicing LVA since last 15 years helping patients with DR, ARMD, Albinism and various Ocular conditions and hence giving a better life to the patients
Diabetic Retinopathy Screening– Considering this importance of Eyehealth, Kunal has introduced Non dilated Fundus Camera Visuscout another latest technology from Zeiss , which examines Diabetic Retinopathy conditions within few minutes. Kunal has successfully screened numerous such cases and helped patients to save their vision.
Orthokeratology – Myopia Control
With an aim to control Myopia in the growing population, Kunal also started Ortho-K lenses from David Thomas.
Educator and Trainer:
He has worked tirelessly to help develop and promote Optometry throughout India . He is an Educator of Optometry students at University of Manipal and is also a trainer at Zeiss Vision Academy in India. Being the Founder and Head Optometrist in Eyesavers, he also visits schools and orphanages to talk to children about Eyetests and assess them for vision impairment. nkara Nethralaya, Chennai.His Clinical practice Eyesavers has also won Excellence In Clinical Practice award for two consecutive years of 2016 and 2017 from Zeiss Youandeye awards.
Future goals: In a country like India where 80% of children doesn’t get a timely eye examination , my vision is to empower and equip all the schools for basic screening of eyes with a mission of reaching one million children in next Five years. We have also launched a social Campaign “Saveyoureyes” (registered) wherein we have examined over 2000children last year and also provided extensive eye treatment. His dedication and commitment has won him the biggest laurel of being Best Optometrist of India for 2016 by Sankara Nethralaya. At the same time We also screen Geriatic population for Diabetic Retinopathy Screening.
